By Jingo 2009 Southern Fleurieu Mendoza Chardonnay
NOTES
Mendoza is a lesser known clone of Chardonnay which displays definitive citrus and icing sugar characters. Only 100 dozen have been bottled.
VINTAGE
Our single site ‘Thunderbird’ vineyard is one of the most southerly vineyard sites in the Southern Fleurieu Peninsula Wine Region and is right on the ocean at Ecounter Bay. The Maritime influence provides cooling breezes by day and warm temperate evenings ideal for the production of ultra premium fruit.
WINEMAKING
Hand picked whole bunches were gently basket pressed to avoid extracting phenolic bitterness. Fermentation in new French Oak Barriques, extended time on lees and lees stirring add to the complexity and textural dimension. In order to retain the natural crisp raciness, no malo-lactic fermentation was induced.
